Quiénes fueron los misioneros que integraron el Grupo Alacrán en Malvinas

El 30 de mayo de 1982 el helicóptero del Ejército Argentino partió hacia el área designada para las operaciones en las Islas Malvinas. A pocos minutos del despegue, un cohete impactó contra la aeronave, a la altura de una ladera del monte Kent. El misil agarró la cola de la nave y se produjo una explosión. Tuvimos que salir en segundos porque se estaba quemando.
No pudieron hacerlo y fallecieron el primer Alférez Ricardo Julio Sánchez; el subalférez Guillermo Nasif, los cabos primero Marciano Verón y Víctor Samuel Guerrero; el cabo Carlos Misael Pereyra y el gendarme Juan Carlos Treppo.
El relato corresponde al misionero Juan Alberto Fleitas, uno de los sobrevivientes del grupo Alacrán que participó de la guerra de Malvinas. El ex combatiente viajaba en el vehículo que recibió el impacto de un misil disparado por un avión inglés Sea Harrier. A 41 años de la gesta, Fleitas recordó a sus camaradas, con quienes mantiene un vínculo de hermandad de fuego.
Del juego a la realidad
De niño, mientras jugaba a metros del Escuadrón 8 de Concepción de la Sierra, Fleitas soñaba con ser gendarme. A través de su historia, este relato propone conocer el célebre grupo especial, formado en las horas más decisivas del conflicto en las islas.
Cuando fueron llamados a combatir por la soberanía de Malvinas, Trangoni cumplía funciones en el Escuadrón 36 de Esquel, Chubut. En tanto, Acosta, Kovalski y Fleitas compartían base en la Central Nuclear de Atucha, Buenos Aires.
Juan Alberto, o “Negro” para los suyos, pasó del juego a la realidad cuando se presentó como aspirante en el escuadrón de Concepción de la Sierra. Sin darse cuenta ya estaba en el proceso de adaptación en San Ignacio.
El joven se sentía gendarme, pero lo certificó en 1977 cuando conoció su próximo destino, Jesús María (Córdoba). Dos años después hizo el curso para la jerarquía de cabo. Luego, obtuvo el pase al lugar donde escribió los capítulos más importantes durante su carrera.
El especialista en explosivos
Caracterizado por su interés en la formación, el cabo Fleitas fue destinado al Complejo Nuclear de Atucha, en Buenos Aires. Ni bien se incorporó asumió nuevos desafíos: en 1981 culminó un duro curso de especialista en explosivos y al poco tiempo fue parte del Grupo de Empleos Especiales. Era uno de los pocos agentes capacitados para custodiar áreas nucleares.
Fleitas estaba preparado para la manipulación y desactivación de artefactos explosivos no reglamentarios y municiones militares. Además, como personal estratégico, dominaba las técnicas en primeros auxilios y tácticas para avanzar en el frente.
Llamado a Malvinas
“El 24 de mayo de 1982 era un día más para nosotros, porque hasta el momento Gendarmería no había enviado efectivos. Estábamos con nuestras actividades habituales cuando nos convocan a la base operativa y nos notifican del llamado al frente”, recordó Fleitas, quien admitió que la nostalgia le produce “cosas que no se pueden explicar”.
Solo unos días antes había recibido la noticia de que sería papá. Junto a su esposa habían celebrado esta novedad y estaban felices. Sus jefes, ante la situación, le dieron la opción de quedarse junto a su familia. Sin embargo, Fleitas decidió defender la patria en los mares australes.
Adrenalina y miedo en el Hércules
Es la primera vez que Fleitas reconoce al miedo como su principal aliado. Lo tuvo en varios momentos cuando iba en el Hércules, evadía radares enemigos y volaba tan bajo que la parte inferior de la aeronave tocaba el agua del mar.
El 29 de mayo 1982, con el Hércules casi en el aire, descendieron los 40 gendarmes. Apenas pisaron Puerto Argentino, con una cinta adhesiva negra estamparon -en una bandera Argentina- su nueva denominación para la guerra: Escuadrón Alacrán, la tropa de élite creada especialmente para frenar el avance del enemigo.
Bautismo de Fuego
En su segundo día en Puerto Argentino, con los Alacranes ya conformados, Gendarmería y los comandos 601 y 602 del Ejército tenían como primera misión atacar a los británicos que se encontraban en monte Kent. El escuadrón, integrado por los cuatro misioneros, fue el primero en desplegarse. “Lo que a mi me marcó fue esa primera misión que tuvimos. Fuimos distribuidos en distintos vuelos”, rememoró Fleitas.
El 30 de mayo, quince de los Alacranes partieron en el primer vuelo del helicóptero del Ejército hacia el área designada para las operaciones. A pocos minutos del despegue, un cohete impactó contra la aeronave, a la altura de una ladera del monte Kent. “El misil agarró la cola de la nave”, recordó Fleitas, quien logró salir a tiempo del siniestro.
En segundos se produjo la explosión, en la que murieron en el acto seis gendarmes. Los demás ocupantes resultaron heridos. “Tuvimos que salir en segundos de la nave porque se estaba quemando y explotando nuestra logística. El suceso me impactó para toda la vida porque uno se alista para combatir y no estamos preparados para morir así, de esa manera, sin poder defendernos“, relató Fleitas. Los heridos fueron vistos tras el denso humo proveniente de la nave.
Juan Alberto Fleitas fue uno de los sobrevivientes del hecho. Con una última mirada al helicóptero en llamas y lágrimas en el rostro, el cabo primero y sus compañeros dieron el saludo final a los caídos, quienes permanecen en el recuerdo a 41 años del hecho. La Patria los llamó y ellos respondieron. Con sus sueños, hogares, historias y familias que quedaron atrás, dejaron el bien más preciado por defender sus tierras: sus vidas.
La gran noticia: “Felicitaciones señor Fleitas”
En el momento más duro de la contienda, cuando Argentina replegaba sus tropas, pero no se rendía, recibir una linda noticia pudo llenar el alma y el corazón del soldado.
El 7 de junio, pese a las inclemencias del tiempo y la zona desfavorable donde se encontraban, a través del equipo de comunicación, un comandante transmitió el nacimiento de la hija de Juan Alberto. “Me avisaron el 7 que Lorena Alejandra nació el 6 de junio. Fue un hermoso momento y obviamente inolvidable”, manifestó emocionado Fleitas.
La familia Fleitas se reencontró el 20 de junio, cuando Juan Alberto volvió a Atucha para abrazar a su esposa, Elsa, y a la pequeña Lorena.
Eternamente Gendarmes y Alacranes
Apenas regresó al continente, el cabo primero Fleitas continuó con sus funciones en la Gendarmería Nacional hasta su retiro, con el rango de suboficial mayor, en 2008.
Jorge Omar Trangoni y Juan Carlos Acosta, en la actualidad, viven junto a sus familiares y pasan sus días en Posadas y en Oberá. Por su parte, Luis Kovalski reside en Eldorado. Es compadre de Fleitas y padrino de Lorena, la pequeña nacida en tiempos de Malvinas que hoy es docente en Wanda.
El Grupo Alacrán marcó la historia de Juan Alberto Fleitas, quien, hasta hoy, recuerda el año donde su vida cambió para siempre. Con el recuerdo de sus camaradas caídos, el ex combatiente mantiene vigente su amor por la patria y su gente.
