Hijo de Ricardo Barrios Arrechea, ex gobernador radical de Misiones, el funcionario ya había estado en la represa durante el gobierno de Fernando de la Rúa. Empresario de la industria maderera, se asoció hace varios años en Ecomadera SRL, una firma misionera que produce y comercializa muebles que fue elogiada por Cristina Kirchner en febrero del 2014 durante un discurso en Casa Rosada por la decisión de la empresa de comunicar que mantenía los precios de sus productos en un contexto de fuerte especulación de las grandes cadenas.
“Un empresario también importante, tal vez les suene el nombre, Ignacio Barrios Arrechea (…) Tampoco es de origen K ni nada que se le parezca. Su familia es tradicionalmente de la Unión Cívica Radical”, deslizó entonces la ex Presidenta en cadena nacional, y mencionó al empresario un par de veces más durante su discurso.
Ahora será el presidente Alberto Fernández quien acepte o no su renuncia.
El empresario maderero envió la carta al jefe de Estado, así como a su madrina política (Cristina Kirchner), para agradecerles la confianza y poner sobre su mesa la disponibilidad de su puesto.
