#DelRecuerdo | Aeropuerto de Posadas: 63 años siendo escenario de arribos, reencuentros y despegues
Un 30 de agosto de 1960 Posadas tuvo su primera terminal aérea. Funcionaba en el mismo predio donde se encuentra el moderno aeropuerto que se reabrió hace tres meses.
El viejo aeródromo de la ciudad capital operó durante 25 años. Hasta que en 1985 se decidió la construcción del aeropuerto que conocemos hoy. Este, con los años, fue refaccionado y adaptado a las nuevas normas aeroportuarias y necesidades de los aviones y pasajeros.
El viejo aeropuerto
Aquella primera instalación comenzó en 1958 y contó con una extensión de 2.270 metros. El aeropuerto construido en ese momento consistió en una plataforma pavimentada y una pista de tierra colorada compactada y pedregullo. Luego, se avanzó en la instalación de un galpón para grupos electrógenos, tanques cisternas y balizamiento de la pista. Las instalaciones de esta terminal aérea estaban en el costado oeste de la pista. Según recuerdan algunas personas que vivieron esa época, el predio estaba rodeado de un suntuoso parque de plantas y árboles, como chivatos y palmeras.
La arquitecta Mary Edith González, encargada de aquella obra, contó a MOL, que el Instituto Provincial de la Vivienda se hizo cargo de la construcción de la vieja estación de pasajeros. Finalmente quedó inaugurada, con pista asfaltada y dependencias, el 30 de octubre de 1960 bajo el nombre Aeropuerto Libertador General San Martín.
Este primer aeropuerto de Posadas marcó un hito en la historia de la ciudad. Modificó para siempre el traslado de personas. Posibilitó que la ciudad forme parte de la conectividad federal. Permitió incorporar vuelos de pasajeros, de carga y comercialización de productos y la venta de servicios turísticos.
En 1985 se concreta una nueva pista de mayor longitud
El antiguo aeropuerto de 1960 fue demolido. Actualmente, solo se mantiene la torre de control. En noviembre de 1985 se inauguró la nueva aerostación que eleva la categoría a aeropuerto internacional. Este pasa a ubicarse al costado este de la pista de aterrizaje.
La construcción de la nueva terminal aérea en 1985 se decidió luego de que la Empresa LADE, suspendiera sus vuelos a Posadas, por insuficientes dimensiones de la pista. Además, otras líneas aéreas no podían llegar a la ciudad, con aviones DC-3, porque necesitaban un campo de aterrizaje de mayor longitud.
Tercera inauguración en 2022
En octubre de 2022, luego de varios meses de obra, reabrió el aeropuerto de Posadas, ubicado donde estuvo siempre, a 15 kilómetros del casco urbano. La reapertura consistió en una estación totalmente renovada, con nueva pista, nuevos sistema de control y señalización.
La obra que demoró cuatro meses y en la que se invirtieron $2.600 millones; fue posible por las gestiones realizadas por el gobierno provincial. Hoy, Posadas cuenta con un aeropuerto ágil, moderno y seguro. La modernización de la infraestructura operativa de la terminal permitió reducir demoras, desvíos y cancelaciones. Posibilitó sumar líneas aéreas que operan desde esta terminal, así como agregar frecuencias de vuelos a Buenos Aires y Córdoba.
Un edificio que vuela
Sobre la ruta nacional 12 y el acceso oeste se erige un imponente edificio que simula las alas de un avión. La terminal aérea de pasajeros está organizada en tres niveles y tiene una superficie de 6.700 M2. Dos pisos están destinadas al uso de pasajeros y el tercero alberga el sector operativo y administrativo.
Su diseño es bastante particular y único en todo el país, conserva un estilo ochentoso y según comentan algunos viajeros, es muy similar al aeropuerto de Asunción. Es el único aeropuerto del país que mantiene una terraza abierta, al aire libre, que mira hacia la plataforma donde estacionan los aviones.
