DEL RECUERCO | Villa Sarita: memoria del ayer, avances del tiempo y siempre mirando el río

Es uno de los barrios emblemáticos de Posadas. Todo comenzó allá por el año 1889, cuando los orígenes comenzaron a gestarse, dando espacio a las chacras 161, 162 y 163 que hoy forman este reconocido espacio.
¿Por qué “Villa Sarita”? Lleva el nombre de Sara Omar, quien era hija de don José Omar, un inmigrante libanés, propietario de un gran almacén de la época donde ella se encargaba de atender al público.
El negocio estaba ubicado en el centro del barrio, frente al acceso principal de la cancha de Guaraní, y recibía a los mensúes y vecinos que, además de beber una copa o realizar una compra, buscaban conquistar su corazón, de ahí su popularidad.
Calles de tierra y escasos edificios forman parte de la imagen del pasado, imágenes que pueden apreciarse gracias al archivo de Canal 12. La cancha de Guaraní Antonio Franco, obras en plena ejecución, automóviles y motocicletas recorriendo la zona, y el siempre presente verdor del barrio en cada esquina.
Ramón Delgado Cano, escritor posadeño y miembro de la Sociedad Argentina de Escritores filial Misiones, contó que Posadas tuvo sus inicios en Villa Sarita, teniendo en cuenta que la única puerta de acceso a la ciudad en ese entonces era el río Paraná. La gente debía llegar sí o sí hasta el puerto.
“Luego había que subir, y el único camino era la Bajada Vieja, que antes se llamaba la bajada. La Bajada Nueva fue una calle que se abrió en la continuación de la calle Santa Fe, hasta la costanera”, explicó el además vecino del lugar desde hace 60 años.
Recordó que la calle Roque González, continuación a calle San Lorenzo del microcentro, era la única vía para llegar hasta el centro. “Villa Sarita tenía caminitos y senderos, muchas plantas y árboles frutales como mandarinas, además de baldíos y casitas bajas alrededor de la cancha de Guaraní y el club Sarmiento”, sostuvo.
Cuando comenzaron a circular los colectivos, Villa Sarita también funcionaba como punto de partida y de llegada. Desde el Parque República del Paraguay recorrían el hospital, el cementerio, el regimiento, Villa Lanús y Garupá.

Recordando la historia, los vecinos de la ciudad hoy disfrutan de un barrio distinto al que fue durante mucho tiempo. Mejores vías de circulación, innovadores edificios y la producción de múltiples actividades se lucen hoy a su alrededor.
Samuel Benítez, de 43 años, destacó los múltiples cambios realizados en la zona, principalmente en su edificación: “Antes estaba prohibido hacer edificios muy altos y había calles de tierra con muchos zanjones. Antes quizá había más tranquilidad, hoy es una ciudad y tiene otro estilo de vida alrededor”.
Recordó que antes, a falta de costanera, los jóvenes acostumbraban a encontrarse en el Parque Paraguayo donde bailaban y escuchaban música. Nombró también al Festival del Litoral, que se realiza en el Anfiteatro Manuel Antonio Ramírez, que ha convocado gran cantidad de personas a través de sus más de 40 ediciones.
Sofía Ortíz, de 68 años, vive actualmente en Villa Sarita y aseguró que una de las principales características es su amplio arbolado. “Las veredas y el parque para los niños está todo nuevo, el Anfiteatro también está modificado y hay muchos edificios. La Villa Sarita de antes no tenía esto”, relató a Canal 12.
Lo que aún perdura pese al transcurso de los años, según expresó, es la maravillosa vista hacia el río Paraná: “Antes esperábamos con ansias el Festival del Litoral porque era cuando venían los artistas que esperábamos, con el río al fondo y la luna llena. Es hermoso”.
