El presidente de China, Xi Jinping, declaró estar «conmocionado» y pidió una investigación para que «se determinen las causas del accidente lo antes posible», informó la televisión pública CCTV.
El Boeing 737 volaba desde la ciudad de Kunming hacia la metrópolis de Guangzhou, pero «perdió el contacto cuando se encontraba sobrevolando la ciudad de Wuzhou», en la región montañosa de Guangxi, según un comunicado de la CAAC, citado por la agencia de noticias AFP.
