El presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin (foto), anunció que Moscú exigirá el pago en rublos del gas que vende a los países que considera hostiles, entre ellos Estados que integran la Unión Europea. El mandatario dio un plazo de una semana para que las autoridades pongan en marcha el nuevo sistema para contrarrestar las sanciones por la guerra en Ucrania.
«He tomado la decisión de aplicar un conjunto de medidas para pasar al pago en rublos de nuestro gas suministrado a países hostiles», dijo el jefe de Estado ruso en una reunión de gobierno. Putin explicó que la medida que ordenó al Banco Central y a su gobierno es una reacción a la congelación de activos rusos en países occidentales.
«Está claro que entregar nuestras mercancías a la UE, a Estados Unidos, y recibir dólares, euros y otras monedas ya no tiene sentido para nosotros», afirmó Putin. «Le pido al gobierno que dé la directiva apropiada a Gazprom (la empresa gasífera controlada actualmente por el Estado ruso) sobre la modificación de los contratos existentes», manifestó.
Además, precisó que los consumidores extranjeros podrán realizar las transacciones necesarias para lo que podrán comprar rublos rusos en el mercado de divisas nacional. «Valoramos nuestra reputación comercial como socio y proveedor confiable. Los cambios afectarán sólo la moneda de pago, que se cambiará a rublos rusos«, dijo. Putin también insinuó que otras exportaciones rusas estarán incluidas en esa medida.
El anunció ya tuvo las primeras repercusiones con el fortalecimiento del rublo ruso frente al euro y al dólar. La moneda rusa había tenido un fuerte desplome tras la invasión de Ucrania iniciada el 24 de febrero.
