Por qué le gusta al mundo “Granizo”: la peor película argentina de Netflix, en los últimos tiempos
El filme que estrenó Netflix hace dos semanas, protagonizado por Guillermo Francella, es número dos en el ranking mundial de la plataforma. Su pésima factura fílmica se contradice con la adhesión del público.
Hay muchas explicaciones o teorías que circulan por las redes respecto a por qué “Granizo”, un verdadero cascotazo en seco en la cabeza del espectador, se ha convertido en lo más visto de Netflix.
Muchos abonan la teoría de que la gran operación de marketing que desarrolló la plataforma despertó la curiosidad del público. Otros que las pésimas críticas que recibió el filme fueron el motor para que la gente hiciera el click y perdiera una hora y media de su vida en una película que no solo es olvidable sino que parece tomarle el pelo al espectador con algunas de sus ocurrencias (los muñequitos Jack que chupa el maestro meteorólogo que sabe cómo vencer a la ciencia del clima es un ejemplo).
Lo cierto es que “Granizo”, dirigida por Marcos Carnevale (un director que está rodando en Mendoza hace unas semanas junto a Benjamín Vicuña y Laurita Fernández), es un batacazo que le ha redituado, y sigue redituándole, a Netflix por todos lados.
Los datos son abrumadores. Según anunció la plataforma de streaming la película ha sumado desde su estreno el 31 de marzo más de 13,3 millones de horas de visualizaciones por persona (así mide Netflix su “rating”). Con estas cifras la película se ha convertido en la segunda más vista en habla no inglesa a nivel mundial.
¿La calidad fílmica, la sensibilidad cinematográfica de las audiencias? Esa es otra historia que en este negocio parece no tener ninguna importancia.
Ya la trama del film es un absurdo que no termina de convertirse ni en grotesco interesante, ni en disparate tan dislocado que invite a la carcajada. El guion, escrito por Nicolás Giacobone y Fernando Balmayor nos cuenta la historia de un meteorólogo famoso en la tv (Guillermo Francella) que en una noche de granizo que no supo predecir se convierte en el hombre más odiado. Tanto que tiene que huir de Buenos Aires y refugiarse en Córdoba. Allí se encontrará con un campesino que chupa muñequitos Jack para predecir los fenómenos meteorológicos (y es infalible) y podrá restaurar su vapuleada fama.
La narración de la sinopsis es más divertida y suena más ocurrente que el guion que trazaron Giacobone y Balmayor para la concreción del film. Un guion tan básico, sin ideas, que recorre varios géneros sin poder hacer pie en ninguno y con personajes planos y perdidos en el desarrollo. No solo se vuelve predecible palmo a palmo sino que insulta la inteligencia del espectador.
La puesta en escena que propone Marcos Carnevale no es menos deficitaria que su idea conceptual. Ya conocemos la afición de este director por la sensiblería anodina y los gestos melosos (“El espejo de los otros”, “El fútbol y yo”, “No soy tu mami”) pero la fórmula para trazar su forma de concebir el mainstream supo gozar de algunos apuntes de cierta altura como en “Elsa y Fred” o “Inseparables”.
En “Granizo” la puesta se vuelve ramplona, con un criterio televisivo y en nada cinematográfico, endeble, sin ritmo, sin atmósferas, sin giros ni personajes sólidos. Es una maqueta, o menos. Es un circular por instantes audiovisuales que van desactivándose unos a otros, en una trama que abandona a sus personajes hasta casi llevarlos a la pura indignidad (doloroso es ver a un actor de la talla de Norman Briski haciendo el Don José que le ha tocado en suerte).
Guillermo Francella, la gran estrella de la película, hace en esta interpretación un retroceso artístico que lo instala treinta años atrás, cuando sus personajes en películas como “Un argentino en Nueva York” le valieron sus merecidos cascotazos. Y es una pena que el actor, que ha sabido explorar con buenas armas aspectos oscuros de la interpretación -como en “Animal” o en “El secreto de sus ojos”- no pueda moverse con soltura en el registro de la comedia (que también maneja con pericia), debido a las deficiencias innegables de la proposición total.
Peor suerte corren los personajes secudarios como el de Peto Menahen (un taxista ultra fan del meteorólogo). Romina Fernandes (su hija) o el mencionado Norman Briski.
No siempre negocio y cine son una dupla virtuosa, como sabe bien hacerlo -por ejemplo- Juan José Campanella o Juan Taratutto. Así las cosas “Granizo” puede reunir millones, billones, trillones de clicks para engrosar los bolsillos de las productoras y el servicio de streaming, pero también tiene la vergonzosa capacidad de vaciar de sensibilidad cinematográfica de cada toma que compone la película.
