Mientras algunas versiones indican que muchos de los incendios forestales fueron iniciados intencionalmente, la Fiscalía Ambiental provincial dispuso la detención de un hombre que estaría vinculado al inicio de unos de los focos aún activos que ya arrasaron con más de 600 mil hectáreas de campos en el noreste argentino. En cercanías a la ciudad de Mercedes, una persona inició un incendio y con la cámara de seguridad de la vivienda afectada pudieron determinar al autor, que permanecidó demorado durante 72 horas, según informa El Litoral. En la detención intervino la Policía Rural e Islas y Ambiental Rural (Priar).
“Poder lograr una condena es importante para que la gente pueda tomar conciencia de esta situación”, dijo ayer Gerardo Cabral, fiscal de Investigación Rural y Ambiental de Mercedes, en diálogo con radio Sudamericana. Y detalló: “Iniciamos entre tres y cuatro causas diarias de incendios”.

Esta segunda detención en relación a los graves incendios que azotan a distintos puntos del territorio correntino se da luego de que, durante la semana pasada, fuera detenida otra persona en la ciudad de Santa Lucía, acusada por un bombero de provocar un incendio en la zona de Cruz de los Milagros.
Frente a la gravedad de la situación, el Fiscal General del Poder Judicial de Corrientes, César Sotelo, ordenó el último martes a los fiscales de toda la provincia que prioricen la persecución penal de delitos vinculados a los incendios rurales y forestales, los cuales podrían ser encuadrados en aquellos cometidos contra la seguridad pública.
Al día de hoy, entre 15 y 20 focos continúan activos en distintos puntos de Corrientes. Fotos y videos que circulan por redes sociales sirven para documentar la gravedadd de la situación, al mismo tiempo que desde el vecino país de Brasil también se puede observar el avance de las llamas. En las últimas horas, un usuario de Twitter que reside en la ciudad correntina de Santo Tomé compartió una foto tomada desde la brasileña Sao Borja.
