El conflicto global en Ucrania perjudica la campaña antártica argentina
Debido a las sanciones generalizadas que Occidente aplica a Rusia, en el marco de tensión en Ucrania, Argentina no puede pagar a los fabricantes rusos la reparación de un helicóptero de la Fuerza Aérea que opera en cada campaña de Antártida.
Las sanciones económicas que las potencias de Occidente aplican actualmente a Rusia, como reacción ante la creciente amenaza bélica en la península de Crimea, le impiden a la Argentina pagar los USD 5 millones de la reparación de un helicóptero Mi-171E al fabricante ruso.
La aeronave en cuestión se encuentra bajo una inspección de ciclo mayor. La imposibilidad de realizar el pago impidió a su vez que el Mi-171E se desplegara a fin de año en la antártica base Marambio, como estaba previsto en la Campaña de Verano.
La información que reproduce el portal Info Defensa, basada en fuentes de al Fuerza Aérea Argentina, menciona que los dólares se encuentran “inmovilizados en Francia”. En principio, todos los bancos y entidades financieras occidentales están inhibidas de operar con sus pares de Rusia, en virtud de las sanciones.
Bajo supervisión de técnicos de nacionalidad rusa, operarios de Fuerza Aérea Argentina avanzaron en el desamblado, en el Área Material Quilmes, del helicóptero Mi-171E, situación prevista en el contrato de compra que define una “inspección mayor” cuando alguna de las aeronaves supera las 2.000 horas de vuelo.
Concretamente, el motor del helicóptero fue enviado a Rusia para su revisión y reparación. Todos los otros trabajos se realizan en Quilmes, siempre con la supervisión de los técnicos rusos. Aunque a consecuencia de la pandemia las tareas no se realizaron en 2020.
Cabe señalar que existe interés en autoridades castrenses de ambas naciones de incorporar a la Fuerza Aérea Argentina nuevas unidades Mi-171 provistas por Rusia. Sin embargo, la concreción de esta intención dependerá de cómo se desarrolle y resuelva el grave conflicto en ciernes en la zona de Ucrania, donde Rusia confronta de pleno con todas las potencias occidentales.
