El menor de 15 años es buscado desde hace exactamente un mes por la Policía de Misiones tras haber sido denunciado como desaparecido el 03 de abril del corriente año por su madre, quien indicó que Josías salió de su domicilio el 30 de abril y no había regresado. Presuntamente, una discusión sobre la intención de internarlo en un centro de rehabilitación debido al consumo problemático de sustancias controladas habría desencadenado la huída.
Desde la denuncia a la fecha se tomaron alrededor de un centenar de declaraciones donde algunas personas indicaron haber visto a Josías en las calles de Oberá. En repetidas ocasiones, los testigos indicaron que Josías estaba acompañado por Andrés Rogelio Texeira, un joven de 24 años con un frondoso prontuario repleto de denuncias e ingresos a la comisaría por robo, hurto y estafa, lo que preocupó a los investigadores, por lo que la Policía enfocó sus esfuerzos en la búsqueda de ambos, presumiendo que si encontraban a Texeira podría dar mayores precisiones sobre el paradero de Josías Galeano.
Texeira se puso en contacto desde la clandestinidad con un familiar para pedirle dinero y comida, donde además habría confesado que en una discusión mató a Josías y enterró el cuerpo. Estas afirmaciones aceleraron la búsqueda de Texeira.
Texeira fue encontrado y detenido y hoy habría confesado el asesinato e indicó adonde habría arrojado el cadáver. La Policía de Misiones realizó un intenso rastrillaje y encontró en una zona de bañados un cuerpo sin vida de un masculino y se dispone a retirarlo del lugar para realizar las pericias correspondientes que indiquen si se trata de Josías Galeano o no.
Este caso conmociona a la provincia de Misiones ya que estuvo envuelto en una red de fake news y falsas denuncias de presuntos testigos.
