El Gobierno de Nueva Zelanda rebajó este lunes el impuesto a los combustibles y las tarifas del transporte público en respuesta al incremento del coste de vida en el país oceánico a raíz de la crisis energética provocada por la invasión de Rusia a Ucrania.
“La crisis energética global se ha agudizado rápidamente y es por ello que el Gobierno ha dado un paso adelante para recortar el impuesto al combustible”, dijo en un comunicado la primera ministra, Jacinda Ardern.
El impuesto a los combustibles y los peajes se rebajarán en 0,25 dólares neozelandeses (0,17 dólares o 0,15 euros) por litro durante los próximos tres meses, lo que supondrá un ahorro de unos 11 dólares neozelandeses (7,46 dólares o 6,84 euros) por llenar un tanque de 40 litros, según el Ejecutivo.
Asimismo, el gobierno recortará a la mitad las tarifas del transporte público durante ese mismo período como parte de un paquete de alivio para responder al incremento del coste de vida que incluye incrementos a las subvenciones familiares y los aportes a los fondos de pensiones, entre otros.
“No podemos controlar la guerra en Ucrania ni la continua volatilidad de los precios del combustible, pero podemos reducir el impacto en las familias neozelandesas”, recalcó Ardern.

La gasolina y el gasóleo han superado durante varias semanas sus máximos históricos en plena crisis energética provocada por la invasión rusa de Ucrania, una situación que parece no tener un final cercano tras el embargo impuesto por EEUU y Reino Unido al crudo ruso.
En días recientes, el Gobierno de Nueva Zelanda ha anunciado este lunes que se impondrán nuevas sanciones “significativas” a Rusia, incluidos los oligarcas, las personas y las empresas responsables o asociadas con la invasión de Ucrania.
“Nunca se ha presentado un proyecto de ley de esta naturaleza ante nuestro Parlamento, pero con Rusia vetando las sanciones de la ONU, debemos actuar nosotros mismos para apoyar a Ucrania y a nuestros socios en la oposición a esta invasión”, ha destacado la primera ministra, Jacinda Ardern, tal y como recoge el diario ‘New Zealand Herald’.
Ardern, ha explicado que las sanciones permitirán congelar los activos rusos en Nueva Zelanda, impedir que personas y empresas trasladen su dinero y activos al país, e impedir que yates, barcos y aviones entren en aguas o espacio aéreo neozelandeses.
“Cuando respondimos por primera vez a la invasión de Rusia emitiendo prohibiciones de viaje específicas, prohibiendo las exportaciones al ejército y suspendiendo las consultas bilaterales del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, dijimos que no había opciones fuera de la mesa”, ha agregado la primera ministra.
Así, ha hecho hincapié en que “el proyecto de ley también permite que se impongan sanciones contra otros estados cómplices de las acciones ilegales de Rusia, como Bielorrusia”.
Andern ha mostrado tristeza por el pueblo ruso y ha enfatizado que las sanciones deberían afectar a los “tomadores de decisiones” en Rusia.
