El Destructor A.R.A. Santísima Trinidad, dejó de formar parte del patrimonio nacional y podría terminar como chatarra.
Los planes de convertir al buque que lideró la recuperación de Malvinas museo no podrán concretarse por el avanzado deterioro de la embarcación.
Transformar el ARA Santísima Trinidad, buque que lideró la recuperación de Malvinas, no será posible debido al avanzado deterioro del buque de la Armada Argentina.
Quien dio a conocer la noticia fue Jorge Olivier, representante de Generación Malvinas. En diálogo con el programa “Nunca es tarde” de La Brújula sentenció: “Lamentablemente, termino de hacer una inspección ocular y no podrá ser un museo, porque los daños estructurales que tiene, el deterioro, la forma en que está podrido oxidado, habría que cambiar toneladas de chapas y hierro que sería volverlo a construir”.
El proyecto del museo ya no será. “Es imposible por el deterioro que tiene. Está irrecuperable”, afirmó Olivier y agregó “lo que vamos a recuperar lo vamos a distribuir a lo largo del país en lugares donde podamos mantener al alcance de los argentinos esa parte de la historia”.
Entre las piezas que se pueden extraer se encuentran la proa, la torreta del cañón de proa, el sistema de lanzamiento de misiles y la popa.
ARA Santísima Trinidad: su desempeño en Malvinas.
– Fue un destructor misilístico de la clase Tipo 42 con el que contó la Armada Argentina para que, junto con su gemelo el ARA Hércules se encargaran de la cobertura antiaérea del portaviones ARA Veinticinco de Mayo.
– En la Guerra de Malvinas formó para de la Fuerza de Tareas 40 comandada por el contraalmirante Gualter Allara para la reconquista de las islas.
– Dentro de esta Fuerza formó parte del Grupo de Tareas 40.3-Grupo de Escolta y Desembarco, junto al destructor ARA Hércules, y a las corbetas misilísticas Clase A-69 ARA Drummond y ARA Granville.
– Al mando del capitán de fragata José Luis Tejo (hoy contraalmirante retirado), el “Santísima Trinidad” era parte del grupo de tareas que tenía por objetivo apoderarse del control del cuartel de los Royal Marines, afianzar el dominio sobre Puerto Argentino y obtener la rendición del gobernador Rex Hunt.
Características
– Se construyó en el astillero nacional Río Santiago. Fue botado el 12 de noviembre 1974 y entró en servicio efectivo en marzo de 1980.
– Desplazamiento: 4.820 toneladas
– Eslora: 125 metros
– Manga: 14 metros
– Capacidad para lanzar misiles y contaba con cañones de 115 mm y de 20mm
– Tenía capacidad de lanzamiento de hasta seis torpedos.
– Formó parte integral de la flota de mar de la Armada Argentina hasta 1989, momento en el que fue pasada a “reserva” y comenzó a ser utilizada como proveedor de repuestos de su gemelo el ARA Hércules.
