Netflix publicó el avance de la esperada película ‘Granizo’ que se estrenará el próximo 30 de marzo. Guillermo Francella interpreta a Miguel Flores, un famoso meteorólogo que trabaja en televisión, amado y respetado por su público, pero una granizada en horas de la madrugada cambiará por completo su vida.
Según la sinopsis se trata de “Una comedia dramática en la que el meteorólogo más querido y famoso del país se convierte de la noche a la mañana en la persona más odiada por una ‘terrible falla’ en su pronóstico. Esta situación obligará a Miguel Flores a huir de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires para encontrar refugio en su ciudad natal en Córdoba, lo que derivará en un viaje de redescubrimiento tan absurdo como humano.»
Esperando el estreno
Sin dudas el lanzamiento de esta película genera grandes expectativas ya solo por el hecho de que el actor protagonista es Guillermo Francella, un referente absoluto cuando se habla de comedia y comedia-dramática. El público en general espera ansioso el gran estreno del film para acomodarse en el sillón frente a la pantalla; pero además, esta película despierta lógicamente gran interés dentro de la comunidad científica, especialmente entre los profesionales en Ciencias de la Atmósfera conocidos como ‘Meteorólogos’.

No podemos pedirle a una película que represente fielmente lo que ocurre en nuestra realidad como meteorólogos, porque precisamente se trata de una ficción no basada en hechos reales.
Pero lo que sí podemos hacer es explicarles los desafíos que enfrentamos de manera cotidiana al trabajar con un sistema que no es exacto sino natural, y como sabemos la naturaleza es caótica, de esa manera se comporta la atmósfera terrestre que intentamos predecir.
El trabajo de los meteorólogos suele tener muchas críticas infundadas. Somos un grupo de científicos que se capacita durante seis años o más en la universidad, estudiando a fondo ciencias duras (como análisis y cálculo matemático, física, estadística), debemos tener en la mayoría de los casos capacitación en programación, además de todos los conocimientos específicos del comportamiento de este fluido en distintas escalas espaciales y temporales.
Interactuamos y analizamos gran cantidad de datos, mediciones, imágenes, salidas de modelos meteorológicos computacionales, ensamblados con la experiencia de cada pronosticador, antes de llevarles «en limpio» el pronóstico del tiempo a la sociedad.
Lo principal es enseñarle a los ciudadanos a interpretar correctamente un pronóstico, para que conviertan este servicio en una herramienta provechosa y en base a eso puedan tomar decisiones, sobre todo en situaciones de riesgo.
Cabe destacar también que dentro de las personas que cuentan el pronóstico del tiempo, por ejemplo en la televisión, no todos son profesionales y estudiosos de esta disciplina; algunos son solamente comunicadores y se encargan de trasmitir a la población el trabajo realizado previamente por un meteorólogo. No hay que perder de vista que la meteorología no es un show, es ciencia puesta al servicio de la comunidad, muchas veces puede hasta salvar vidas, y también ayuda a los tomadores de decisiones para el desarrollo productivo y económico, entre otras cosas.
