La abogada Valeria Carreras amplió la denuncia por «traición a la patria» contra el expresidente Mauricio Macri por el acuerdo por el cual la Argentina se comprometía a «remover todos los obstáculos que limiten el crecimiento económico» de las islas Malvinas, en tanto que funcionarios y mandatarios repudiaron los términos de esas negociaciones que fueron reveladas a partir del testimonio del excanciller británico.
En las memorias del exministro de Relaciones Exteriores del Reino Unido Alan Duncan, sostuvo que el entonces vicecanciller Carlos Foradori “estaba borracho” cuando se firmó un acuerdo para levantar las sanciones argentinas sobre las empresas británicas que operan en las aguas que circundan a las Malvinas.
Según reveló el sitio Declassified, en ese acuerdo, alcanzado en septiembre de 2016, se otorgaban por parte de la Argentina concesiones para frecuencias de vuelos que llegarían a las islas desde distintos puntos del continente haciendo escala en este país.
Según Duncan, el trato se cerró en una bodega que tiene la Embajada británica en Buenos Aires, en cuyas paredes reposaban varias botellas de vino merlot, y que en ese escenario se llevó a cabo una reunión con Foradori, en representación del Gobierno que encabezaba Macri.

Al día siguiente, el 13 de septiembre, Duncan indicó que Mark Kent (entonces embajador del Reino Unido» le contó que Foradori lo había llamado por teléfono para decir que “estaba tan borracho anoche que no podía recordar todos los detalles” de ese acuerdo que había rubricado.
“Como un auténtico británico, Mark le recordó lo que había acordado, fielmente y sin adornos. Así que creo que seguimos bien encaminados”, remarcó Duncan.
Y agregó: “En la reunión del Foro de Inversiones de Argentina (celebrada por esos día en Buenos Aires) tuve un breve encuentro con el presidente Macri, quien dio su bendición a nuestros esfuerzos”.
Ante estas revelaciones, la letrada Carreras amplió la denuncia por “traición a la patria” porque “hay un hecho nuevo en este acuerdo aberrante que no se podía firmar ni borracho”.
Para Carreras, ese hecho le da más gravedad a la firma de un acuerdo que era perjudicial para el reclamo de soberanía que Argentina sostiene sobre la Malvinas, y recordó que la firma de ese entendimiento “fue ordenada” por Macri.
“Macri le dio a Theresa May (entonces primera ministra británica) todo lo que le había pedido. Era una locura dar frecuencias de vuelos a Malvinas, donde no sólo no podían trabajar argentinos, sino que se daban esos permisos para que quienes estaban usurpando el territorio fueran y vinieran, en momentos además en que se estaba armando una base militar”, añadió Carreras en declaraciones a Radio 10.
La letrada, que representa además la querella mayoritaria que siguen los familiares de los marinos del ARA San Juan en una causa por espionaje ilegal, presentó en 2019 una denuncia por «traición a la patria» contra Macri y varios funcionarios de su gobierno, que quedó a cargo del fiscal federal Jorge Di Lello, quien imputó al expresidente.
A su turno, el ministro de Defensa, Jorge Taiana, señaló que durante el Gobierno de Cambiemos «hicieron todo a favor de los ingleses y fueron a firmar lo que les pusieron por delante”.
«El acuerdo firmado repite palabra por palabra una carta que Theresa May, la primera ministro británica, en 2016 le había enviado al presidente (Mauricio) Macri. En ese texto le pidió ‘remover obstáculos’. Eso es cambiar las leyes que protegen los derechos de los argentinos. Hay cosas que no se deben firmar ni ebrios ni dormidos», sostuvo el excanciller.

El gobernador de Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur, Gustavo Melella, recordó que “el acuerdo, en su momento, fue rechazado por gran parte del arco político. Creo que es la oportunidad para que la Cancillería argentina desconozca de una vez por todas ese acuerdo, nunca pasó por el Congreso de la Nación y tiene que ver con la manera de mirar con desprecio, sin responsabilidad y sin compromiso del macrismo la cuestión Malvinas”.
“Es un escándalo institucional y de una magnitud increíble, que alguien que tiene la representación del país, frente a otros gobiernos del mundo, y sobre todo en un tema tan delicado como lo es nuestra soberanía se comporte de esa manera”, consideró.
Por su parte, el secretario de Malvinas, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Guillermo Carmona, aseguró que “el Gobierno de Macri avanzó en lo que llamó un descongelamiento de las relaciones con el Reino Unido que implicaba la decisión de una política concesiva respecto de las expectativas del Gobierno británico del aprovechamiento de los Recursos naturales de Malvinas”.
“El escándalo de ese acuerdo llevó a que Foradori tuviera que renunciar en ese momento aunque no se conocían estas situaciones que ahora revela el vicecanciller británico”, apuntó.
En tanto el martes, el canciller Santiago Cafiero dispuso iniciar una investigación interna para determinar la veracidad de las expresiones vertidas por Duncan para determinar “posibles incumplimientos de los deberes de funcionario público y de las disposiciones establecidas en la ley orgánica del Servicio Exterior de la Nación N° 20957 en la firma del acuerdo durante la gestión de Susana Malcorra como canciller de la administración de Macri”.
Desde diciembre de 2019, el Gobierno del presidente Alberto Fernández llevó a cabo una serie de acciones para “dejar sin efecto todas las cuestiones prácticas y los acuerdos posteriores que se derivaron del comunicado conjunto emitido en septiembre de 2016”, según detalló la Secretaría de Malvinas, Antártida y Atlántico Sur.
Durante la reunión de la Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado, se pidió que se cite a Foradori, para que brinde explicaciones sobre las acusaciones de haber firmado ese acuerdo en “estado de ebriedad”.

La senadora del Frente de Todos (FdT) por Tierra del Fuego Eugenia Duré repudió el accionar del Gobierno de Macri en política exterior y consideró que esa denuncia publicada en los diarios contra el exfuncionario de Cambiemos forma parte de la posición de entonces de «desmalvinizar Malvinas».
En tanto, el excanciller de Cambiemos y embajador retirado, Jorge Faurie, dijo este miércoles que «son una injusticia» y «no reflejan la realidad» las afirmaciones del exvicecanciller del Reino Unido.
En diálogo con FM La Patriada, Faurie defendió a Foradori, al señalar que «esa minimización que pretenden hacer de la personalidad de alguien que tiene una enorme trayectoria, es una injusticia».
