Luis Mario Vitette Sellanes bajó once kilos y disfruta el verano con su familia. Rubén Alberto de la Torrerecibe propuestas para hacer documentales, pero él quiere volver a actuar como lo hizo en la serie Un gallo para esculapio. Julián Zalloechevarría se recibió de abogado penalista. Sebastián García Bolster, el “ingeniero”, volvió a reparar motos. Y Fernando Araujo se dedica de lleno a su carrera de guionista de cine, rol por el que fue ternado en los Premios Sur.
Además de ser el cerebro del robo fue el motor y alma de la película inspirada en el robo del siglo al banco Río de Acassuso, ocurrido el 13 de enero de 2006. La obra, dirigida por Ariel Winograd, convocó a más de dos millones de personas antes de la pandemia.
A 16 años delo asalto más importante de la historia criminal argentina, y considerado uno de los más grandes del mundo, los ladrones de la famosa banda -que robó un banco con réplicas de pistolas- están retirados del delito.

Huyeron en dos gomones en sentido contrario al río, con bolsas que contenían alrededor de 19 millones de dólares. La Policía recuperó sólo un millón. ¿Dónde está el resto del dinero?
A esta altura podría decirse que es poco probable que se encuentre dinero en efectivo. “Ya es viejo eso de enterrar plata. Seguro está en propiedades, testaferros o plata en negro que reingresó al sistema bancario”, se arriesga a decir una fuente con acceso al expediente.
“Yo me gasté todo en abogados, en mujeres rápidas y caballos lentos”, suele decir Vitette Sellanes. Y clara que su joyería “Verde Esmeralda” es legal y que no vende ninguna joya robada en el asalto. Fernando Araujo dice lo mismo, que no le quedó nada. Lo llamativo es que ningún miembro de la banda cambió su forma de vida. No andan en autos de lujo, no se compraron casas en countries ni viajan por el mundo.
Tampoco la Policía se dedicó a rastrear el botín porque el banco arregló con todos los damnificados. Pero está claro que ese dinero no se esfumó. Parte de la cuidada planificación que hicieron del robo al Banco Río
La banda viene de cobrar un dinero por su participación en un documental de Netflix y algunos de ellos cobró por uso de imagen y por un bolo en la película El robo del siglo, ideada por Araujo.
Sin embargo, tres de los miembros de la banda se quejaron porque el reparto del botín no fue equitativo. Pero no hay demasiados detalles sobre eso.

«El resucitado»: un ladrón que nunca fue atrapado y que todos habían dado por muerto
Lo que resulta otro gran misterio tiene que ver con los otros dos miembros de la banda que nunca fueron detenidos ni se les conoce el nombre y la cara. Uno de ellos fue dado por muerto, pero, según descubrió Infobae, está vivo: lo llaman “el resucitado”El otro, el “rufián fantasma”, también habló con este medio y dijo que su vida es normal, que disfruta de su hijo y que no necesita volver a robar.
Salvo Araujo y Bolster, los demás ladrones son hombres que superan los 60 años. Algunos llegaron a los 70. “Para el hampón de raza, la vejez es peor que la Policía”, suele decir el “rufián fantasma”.
El silencio del ladrón del siglo
“Eso es pasado enterrado. Ya di vuelta la página y estoy en otra”, dice Luis Mario Vitette Sellanes cuando se le pide que hable del robo del siglo.
Asegura que ya dijo todo. Que no le quedaron palabras. Justo el hombre que burló a 300 policías y negoció con destreza. Fue la voz cantante de la banda durante el asalto y ante los medios.
Después del éxito de su libro El robo del siglo, una historia de amor y delito, va por su segundo libro delincuencial y atiende su joyería “Verde Esmeralda”, en San José, Uruguay, donde tiene un aceitado sistema de seguridad, al igual que su casa.

Luis Vitette Sellanes es joyero y dice que la delincuencia es parte del pasado (Lihue Althabe)
El ex escruchante, ladrón de joyerías y de bancos, ahora se define como padre de familia, joyero, relojero y experto en redes sociales y escritor.
Aunque admite que tiene ego, siente que ya no necesita protagonismo. Logró ser el ladrón más famoso de la Argentina. Tiene 25 mil seguidores en Twitter, dos cuentas de Facebook “estalladas”, como dice él, una cuenta de Instagram que maneja su esposa, y asegura haber dado más de 200 entrevistas. Enumera a la CNN en español, a la revista Society de París, a El País de España, a la cadena rusa Sputnik, entre otros medios. “Hasta de China me llamaron”, dice. E insiste: “No quiero saber nada con el robo del siglo. Ya pasó”.
El bandido que quiere actuar
Rubén Alberto de la Torre fue el primer ladrón en entrar en el banco y el primero en ser detenido. Lo delató su ex esposa, Alicia di Tullio, porque según ella se iba a fugar con el dinero y con su amante. “Beto”, como le dicen, delinque desde los 12 años, fue miembro de la mítica superbanda que robaba bancos y blindados y pieza clave del robo del siglo. Estuvo preso ocho años.
“Sigo para adelante, tratando de meterme en algún bolo o algún proyecto como actor, que también me gusta mucho. Estudié teatro y eso me ayudó mucho a participar en la miniserie Un gallo para Esculapio, producida por Sebastián Ortega, y en la película El robo del siglo, donde hago un cameo. En una hago de prefecto y en otra de policía, con tal de hacer de actor hago del enemigo”, dice De la Torre.

También se retiró del delito. Perdió la cuenta de la cantidad de robos que cometió. Dice que pasó una vida robando. En general con armas largas.
“Ahora lo veo como un camino equivocado, por más que haya producido una moneda en su momento, me dio muchos sinsabores. Perdí una familia, perdí cariño, perdí tiempo, perdí vivencias”, revela.
“Estoy arrepentido de lo que hice en el delito, pero no me arrepiento de quién soy. Y el robo del siglo fue increíble porque fuimos un grupo fuerte y fue mi retiro soñado. A partir de ahí me fueron surgiendo cosas impensadas, como que muchas personas me saluden porque vencimos, de alguna manera, al poder de un banco”, dice Beto.
Mientras evalúa participar de un documental y un proyecto de ficción, espera volver a actuar. Le gustaría aparecer en El Marginal.
El abogado y el Marciano
Para Julián Zalloechevarría, otro de los que entraron al Banco Río hace 16 años, el asaltante quedó en el olvido. “Para mí el robo del siglo fue como haber jugado y ganado un Mundial de la delincuencia”, dice. Sebastián García Bolster, alias El Marciano, nunca asumió su participación en el hecho, pero fue condenado y estuvo preso cuatro años. Cuando salió volvió a su oficio: reparar motos.
Tuvo un cameo en la película protagonizada por Guillermo Francella y se ilusiona con la idea de escribir un guión de cine como su amigo Fernando Araujo.

El «ingeniero» García Bolster volvió a reparar motos
Bolster fue fundamental en la etapa inicial del robo, sobre todo en la construcción del túnel, del dique y de las prácticas herramientas con las que abrieron 146 cajas de seguridad.
El cerebro, del robo al arte
Fernando Araujo fue la mente detrás del robo del siglo. Ideó el asalto como si fueran los cuadros que pintaba en sus ratos libres. Fue el autor de la célebre frase encontrada por los policías en la bóveda, cuando los ladrones se habían ido: “En barrio de ricachones, sin armas ni rencores, es sólo plata y no amores”.
Araujo edificó el concepto del robo con todo lo que tenía a mano, desde sus conocimientos técnicos (cursó tres años de ingeniería electrónica) hasta los mas insólitos recursos artesanales. Lo llamó “un robo filosófico y espiritual”, en el que fundió técnicas de artes marciales (es profesor de jiu jitsu y karate) y conceptos del Arte de la Guerra, de Sun Tzu. Uno de ellos, esencial: “Sin armas ni violencia”.
